As part of our 2025-26 Season, Cor Mundi is set to release a live recording of the Dante e la Donna performance held at the University of St. Thomas in August 2024.
This collection of Italian compositions by Knaggs take listeners on a journey through earthly to celestial love.
Opening with the world premiere of Dante Songs, (settings of love poetry by Dante Alighieri), the collection continues with the North American premiere of Zita di Lucca, a chamber opera commissioned by the 2023 Puccini Chamber Opera Festival in Lucca, Italy. The opera tells the story of St. Zita of Lucca as through the eyes (and dialect) of Dante.
The remaining compositions focus on the incomparable love of the Blessed Mother: the North American premiere of Knaggs’ Three Marian Hymns followed by the world premiere of Ave Maria No. 20 - Mater Creatoris.
