About us

Why Cor Mundi?

Amidst the challenges within the cultural landscape of our time, we recognize a need for all people to encounter sacred beauty. Music, of all the arts, has an unmatched ability to enter into the human heart. Therefore, sacred music—if executed at a level high enough to be taken seriously—can lead hearts into a transformative encounter with sacred beauty. Through the beauty of music, all hearts can experience the touch of the Divine. Cor Mundi seeks to offer such encounters to the wider culture with the following Mission and Vision in mind:

Our Mission:

The high-level creation, performance, and recording of sacred music in the heart of the world.

Our Vision:

To sow seeds of mercy, healing, and reconciliation in the Third Millennium through shared encounters with sacred beauty.

Meet the Director

Founding Director of Cor Mundi is American composer, conductor, and educator Dr. Daniel Knaggs.

Daniel’s longstanding relationship with sacred music and with languages has taken him on a decade’s-long journey that now finds its culmination in the special projects of Cor Mundi.

After having conducted the premiere of the Polish language version of his major composition Two Streams in 2021 at the Musica Vera Festival (in Torun, Poland), Daniel founded the professional choir Ensemble Invocatio with singers coming from all over Poland. This group has become an ensemble-in-residence of Cor Mundi.

Daniel now resides in Houston, Texas, dividing his time between composing, and building Cor Mundi.
